OnlyFans for Alt, Goth & Cosplay Creators

Small followings that out-earn huge ones. Follower count has almost nothing to do with it.

By 20MG · Updated 6 August 2026

Everyone fixates on follower count. It's the wrong number. It tells you how many people scrolled past and tapped a button — not how many would pay for anything. Accounts with a few thousand followers routinely out-earn accounts with a hundred thousand. The difference is nearly always the same: one audience found something they were looking for. The other was just passing.

The appeal of not being mainstream

Alt, goth and cosplay creators aren't the mainstream look. That's the draw. A fan scrolling past a hundred versions of the same aesthetic stops on the one that stands apart. Different is more exciting to find. Easier to get genuinely infatuated with. Far more memorable than another spin on a familiar theme.

And it goes deeper than a first impression. Most big followings are passive: people followed once because a post did well, and that's all following says about them. These audiences are different — the aesthetic is part of how they see themselves. They seek it out. They know how rare it is to find done well. So when they find a creator who genuinely fits, the relationship starts far closer to paying than a passive follower ever gets. That's most of the answer. The rest is mechanics.

The mechanics

This niche fits every marketing channel at once. X, Instagram and Discord are the funnels we run for creators, and they're the strongest ones available for alt, goth and cosplay accounts. These communities already live there. They already share creators between themselves. They respond to a well-placed account far faster than a general audience does. Paid and organic both work — rarer than it sounds.

Short-form video is where it compounds. Instagram Reels and TikTok reward a look that's instantly recognisable, and a strong aesthetic reads in the first half-second of a clip. A generic one never will. That's the whole advantage: what makes these creators stand out in a paid funnel is exactly what stops the scroll organically. Very few niches work that well across both.

A small audience that was looking for exactly what you do will out-earn a big audience that happened to scroll past you.

The dilution trap

Here's how niche accounts stall: chasing growth away from the thing that made them work. A post outside the aesthetic does well. Feels like a signal. A few months later the account has drifted toward whatever travels broadly. Follower count goes up. Revenue doesn't — often it falls — because the people actually paying no longer recognise what they subscribed for.

Playing to the niche

  • Slower follower growth, higher conversion
  • Audience recommends you to people like them
  • Consistent aesthetic makes you findable and memorable
  • Subscribers stay because the thing they paid for keeps arriving

Chasing broad reach

  • Faster follower growth, weaker conversion
  • Audience has no reason to recommend you specifically
  • Visual drift makes you hard to distinguish
  • Churn rises as the original audience loses interest

Most of that drift starts with borrowed advice. Agency playbooks built on big, general audiences optimise for what works there — broad content, high volume, aggressive discovery. Apply that to an aesthetic-led account and you erode the whole advantage. Twenty Management Group started as @under20k, promoting creators under twenty thousand followers. Small, specific audiences are the environment we learned in.

That's the short version of all of it. Don't widen the look until it reaches everyone. Put it in front of the people already looking for it — then keep giving them the thing they came for.

One caveat, said plainly: this niche performs particularly well, but it's not the only one that does. We take on creators of every look, ethnicity, body type and background — and beginners with no niche at all. Fan taste is far more varied than any playbook admits. The audience for someone is always there; finding it is the job. And none of this is a promise about earnings. Niche positioning changes how an audience behaves. It doesn't guarantee a number.
